The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announces a 2-day workshop entitled "Lymphatics in the Digestive System: Physiology, Health, and Disease." The workshop will be held at the Bethesda Marriott in Bethesda, Maryland, on November 3-4, 2009. It will address current research on the biology of the lymphatic system, and the role of lymphatics in organ function with an emphasis on the digestive system, as well as needs for future research on lymphatics in areas of NIDDK interest. The workshop will bring together investigators working on a variety of systems to stimulate discussion, particularly with respect to research that may form a basis for future therapies to address organ dysfunction related to lymphatics. The workshop will have both invited oral presentations and a poster session. Prospective poster presenters should see the instructions on this website for submission of an abstract for a possible poster.
